A viral Boulder owl moment, 10 years later

On this day 10 years ago, the internet was captivated by the eyes of a tiny Boulder County resident.

What they found: On July 21, 2015, two Boulder County deputies were on patrol in the foothills outside Nederland when they almost ran over what they later described as “a fluffy something with eyes.”

  • The tiny jaywalking offender was a fledgling northern saw-whet owl, which the deputies photographed and filmed.
