LEBANON, Ore. — A small brush fire that broke out early Sunday morning in Lebanon quickly grew into a 1/4 acre blaze.
According to the Lebanon Fire District (LFD) the fire was first reported as a burning tree on an old mill property in the 3000 block of Burdell Blvd. Fire officials say the fire was able to grow so quickly due to dry, tall brush and grass in the area.
When LFD’s Battalion Chief arrived on scene he upgraded the fire to a first alarm fire in order to get more equipment to fight the flames.
The first due engine quickly went to work on arrival knocking down the head of the fire and felling a tree that would help aid in the mop up phase to completely extinguish the blaze.
The fire district says firefighters were on scene for a little more than 90 minutes extinguishing and mopping up hotspots around the area…
