Music legend Billy Joel, 76, recently updated fans on his health following a diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). This condition, characterized by excess cerebrospinal fluid in the brain, led to the cancellation of his upcoming concerts, including dates with Stevie Nicks and Sting, after experiencing worsened symptoms like vision and balance problems.
Speaking on Bill Maher’s podcast, “Club Random,” Joel downplayed the seriousness of the diagnosis, stating, “They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder so it sounds a lot worse than what I’m feeling.” He reassured fans, saying, “I feel good,” even joking that he initially suspected his past heavy drinking was the cause.
Despite the health setback, Joel recently completed a remarkable 10-year, 104-show residency at Madison Square Garden. Fans can also catch a glimpse into his life and career in the new two-part HBO documentary, “Billy Joel: And So It Goes,” which premiered Friday.
The documentary chronicles his journey to stardom and features interviews with musical icons like Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen. Part 2 premieres this Friday.
