SDPD shuts down second illegal gambling den within two days

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego Police Department shut down an illegal gambling den in the Teralta East neighborhood last week, the second to be dismantled within two days.

According to the department, Mid-City officers tried to stop a man who was in violation of a municipal code near the 4700 block of University Avenue on Friday. However, the man did not comply with officers’ orders and entered Rrocky’s Market.

While contacting the man inside the store, officers discovered several electronic gambling machines being used, secured the location and obtained a search warrant.

Officers seized nine illegal gambling machines, more than $450 in cash and a replica firearm.
