Jupiter Residents May See Water and Stormwater Bill Increases Amid Infrastructure and Environmental Imperatives

Jupiter residents may soon face higher utility costs, as the Town Council is set to consider two resolutions on September 4 that propose raising monthly water rates by 3% and stormwater fees by 7%. The proposed increases are aimed at addressing rising operational expenses, funding necessary infrastructure improvements, and meeting environmental regulatory requirements.

The figures are in. For the average residential water customer using around 10,000 gallons per month, this hike translates to an additional $1.32 on the monthly bill. “Our primary goal is to provide safe, reliable, and affordable drinking water,” a recent bulletin on the town’s website assured. In comparison to other Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast utilities, Jupiter’s rates are competitive, particularly among those using advanced membrane treatment technology, the same source noted.

Now, when it comes to stormwater, residents can expect a potential uptick of $0.53 per month if the 7% fee increase passes. This hike would take the current $7.55 monthly stormwater fee to $8.08.
