Augusta Man Arrested After Shooting at Car with Baby Inside

A baby escaped harm when bullets struck a family’s car in Augusta early Saturday. Deputies arrested a man later that day, finding an illegal machine gun and dangerous drugs.

🔍 What Happened: The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says it started with a fight at a Peach Orchard Road store around 12:39 a.m. Saturday. As the victims drove home near Peach Orchard and Woodward Avenue, someone in a silver car shot at them. Bullets hit their vehicle. An infant was inside, but no one was hurt. Evidence collected included shell casings.

🚨 The Arrest: Deputies spotted the suspect car on Bahama Drive around 4:47 p.m. Saturday. During the stop, they found:

  • A handgun illegally modified into a fully automatic weapon using a “Glock switch.”
