Albemarle Parks and Rec director marks 50 years, shares project updates

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Bob Crickenberger, Director of Parks and Recreation for Albemarle County, is celebrating a rare milestone, 50 years of service. What began as a short-term job turned into a lifelong career. “I absolutely did not when I first started working for the county and Parks and Recreation, and I thought it was going to be a short term or just something I would do until I found something else. But I fell in love with this job, this organization in this county,” Crickenberger said.

Crickenberger also provided updates on ongoing projects, including Biscuit Run Park. “We’ve got some projects that are already in the works,” he said, noting the addition of a downhill biking area in partnership with the Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club. He also introduced the county’s new initiative to bring “urban parks” to more densely populated areas, saying, “We’ll be kicking off that design team party next week.”…
