2 Wants To Know is getting new information about why Guilford County District Attorney Avery Crump decided against pursuing a possible criminal investigation into former Greensboro City Attorney Chuck Watts.
After four days of pressing for answers, the DA’s office told us the allegations against Watts “did not give rise to the belief that a crime was committed. However, this does not mean the District Attorney’s Office believes the matter was in all respects handled appropriately.”
How We Got Here
On July 2, the City of Greensboro announced Watts’ immediate retirement, posting online in part: “We acknowledge his years of service and wish him well in his retirement.” Watts had served as City Attorney for six years.
