Dozens of residents living in the Tent City homeless encampment in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, are set to be relocated to a new site as the city prepares for the I-83 expansion project. According to CBS21, the new location is near South Ninth Street and will offer amenities such as bathrooms and a food preparation area. The nonprofit organization Amiracle4sure recently purchased the property for $670,000 and will manage the site.
Residents of Tent City have been informed through fliers about the opportunity to register for one of the 50 to 60 available spots at the new encampment. The move comes after years of efforts to clear the area for the highway expansion.
