Updates to Huntsville Utilities billing system underway: Important dates to remember

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Utilities announced that its new app and web portal are slowly making their way to customers. But as the upgrades come, there are some important dates to remember.

Earlier in June, HU announced that it was coming out with an app and a new web portal to give customers access to manage their account anywhere, at any time.

Below is a list of important dates to remember when it comes to HU’s upgrades:

July 21

As the billing system is upgraded, HU said non-payment disconnections are temporarily on hold. “No services will be disconnected during this time,” the company said.

July 25

HU said it would begin removing current payment kiosks to make room for new kiosks. The first to be removed are the kiosks at the Richard Showers Center and Madison Utilities, followed by the kiosks at the Huntsville Utilities Main Building and at the drive-through locations.

July 29

The remaining payment kiosks will be removed and credit and debit card payment will no longer be accepted in the current payment platform. HU said customer service representatives can take one-time draft payments up until July 30 to post on July 31.

August 2

If you are on the current Bank Draft Auto Pay system, HU said your payment details will be transferred automatically to the new system with no action required on your part. However, in the event that there are payment delays, HU said late fees will be waived in the transition period. The company did say that if customers use one of the bill pay partners, such as Speedpay or Western Union, these payments will no longer be accepted in the new system.

August 11

The new app, HSVUTIL goes live. “Download the app by searching “HSVUTIL” in the App Store or Google Play (look for the green background), and be sure to delete our old app (HU Mobile). Our team has been working hard to get this new system ready for you. It’s going to make managing your account easier than ever by providing you with the ability to view your energy usage, access statements, pay your bill, and much more (like no processing fee on when you use a debit/credit card)! Be sure to register your account using the information on this page, and feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions,” HU said…
