Will County, IL – ‘Mob Action’ Leads to Four Arrests After Sunday’s Summer Fest Carnival Disturbance in Braidwood

Braidwood, IL – A violent altercation at the Summer Fest Carnival in Braidwood Sunday evening resulted in two individuals being injured and four people charged. The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. on July 20, 2025, at Old Smokey Park, located at 245 W. 1st St., when a crowd’s escalating tension led to a physical confrontation.

Multiple bystanders alerted authorities to the disturbance on the festival’s south side, prompting a swift response from Braidwood Police. Officers were soon joined by units from Wilmington, Elwood, and the Will County Sheriff’s Police as the altercation grew in intensity, reflecting a mob mentality among those involved.
