Albany, NY (WRGB) — Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr. announced an update regarding the death of an incarcerated individual at the Albany County Correctional Facility. On July 18, 2025, at approximately 9:38 PM, 57-year-old Ray Richardson was found unresponsive in the medical unit by a correction officer and nurse.
“Corrections personnel immediately began lifesaving measures including CPR,” said the sheriff. Colonie EMS responded and continued lifesaving efforts, but Richardson was pronounced dead.
