Safety warning issued for San Diego Comic Con as ‘human trafficking task force is very active’

San Diego Comic Con was the site of a human trafficking sting operation last year — and law enforcement is not letting their guard down.

During the 2024 SDCC convention, fourteen people were arrested with ten victims being rescued. Among those rescued was a 16-year-old. Child Welfare Services and additional service advocates were present for the sting to aid in resources for the victims.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta explained in a statement at the time, “Unfortunately, sex traffickers capitalize on large-scale events such as Comic-Con to exploit their victims for profit. These arrests send a clear message to potential offenders that their criminal behavior will not be tolerated.”…
