RIDGELAND, S.C. (WCIV) — An inmate at the Ridgeland Correctional Institute already serving a 25-year sentence received an additional 29 years Tuesday after he pled guilty to raping and kidnapping a 68-year-old commissary worker at the facility.
41-year-old Ahmad Rashad Bonds was in prison for first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree burglary, and armed robbery, according to the Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor’s office. According to the solicitor’s office, on March 2019 he attacked a longtime prison employee in the prison’s storage area.
Testimony in the case was set to begin Tuesday morning, but Bonds chose to enter a guilty plea of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping to forego a jury trial, prosecutors said…
