Wilmington Suspect Elyjah Elsayed Arrested for East 24th Street Shooting, Held on $43,000 Bail

Wilmington Police have taken 23-year-old Elyjah Elsayed into custody about a shooting that occurred on July 11. According to a report from Nixle, the incident took place late at night on East 24th Street, where a 37-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds and was later transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Post-investigation findings by Detective Kevin Murphy of the Criminal Investigations Division led to the identification of Elsayed as a the suspect. In a calculated operation on Saturday, officers from Uniformed Services Division located and apprehended Elsayed on the 100 block of East 24th Street, managing to make the arrest without adding any further incidents to the night.

The charges against Elsayed are severe, encompassing Assault in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited.
