Man charged with murder in fatal stabbing of Wichita woman

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A 25-year-old man was charged on Tuesday in Sedgwick County Court with the fatal stabbing of a woman in west Wichita.

The stabbing happened Thursday, July 17, in the 6800 block of West Par Lane. At the scene, Wichita police found 27-year-old Sinay Leon-Montoya of Wichita with stab wounds inside an apartment. She died at the hospital. A 25-year-old woman who was also stabbed in the incident was found outside the apartment. Police classified the incident as a domestic dispute, and children were present at the time.

After the stabbing, police arrested 25-year-old Edward Millan-Volcan. He was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated endangering a child, criminal threat, and battery.
