DEA Special Agent in Charge speaks on recent successes and future of agency in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – After the largest drug bust in the United States Drug Enforcement Agency’s history occurred in Albuquerque, KRQE News 13 heard from the new agent in charge of the El Paso sector, which also oversees the entire state of New Mexico, for the first time since taking his new position.

“At the end of the day, these drug trafficking organizations, these transnational criminal organizations, their end game is to make money,” said Special Agent in Charge Omar Arellano.

In April, the DEA executed its largest bust ever, which took place in Albuquerque. “This particular seizure that occurred under the Albuquerque case was the single, the largest single enforcement action that we seized over 3 million pills, so that’s a record for DEA,” he added…
