Tuesday night update: The line of storms continued to fade. Behind it, drier air is moving in from the northeast. This means we should have a calm and dry night ahead.
Get ready for a bit of a reprieve on Wednesday! While we’re calling it a “cold front,” it’s all relative in this summer heat. Temperatures will be near or even slightly below our normal highs, which will be a welcome change. Heat indices are expected to be in the mid-90s for most, creeping toward 100°F in the southern part of our area. We’ll have a decent amount of dry air moving in, so the chances for afternoon pop-up showers and storms are pretty low for areas along and north of I-20. The greatest chance of rain will be further south across Washington, Johnson, and Emanuel counties.
Don’t put away the rain gear just yet though, because moisture makes a comeback Thursday! A low pressure in the Gulf will start pumping that humid air right back into our region. This means the chances for showers and thunderstorms will be much higher on Thursday. While we don’t expect widespread severe weather, the storms could still bring periods of heavy rain. On the bright side, the increased cloud cover and rain will keep our high temperatures hovering around a more “comfortable” 90 degrees…
