AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A backdoor cold front pushes through Tuesday, bringing higher rain chances and slightly cooler high temperatures by the middle of the week.
Scattered storm chances are anticipated this afternoon as a back-door cool front slides in from the northeast. A marginal severe risk has been issued across most of the CSRA for the chance for strong to severe thunderstorms. Strong wind gusts are the main concern. There is also a slight flood risk in effect through the evening. Heavy downpours in storms could lead to minor flooding issues in mainly flood prone areas.
Hope is on the horizon for slightly cooler high temperatures Wednesday as the backdoor cold front stalls south of the CSRA. CSRA counties north of I-20 have the best chance of seeing dew points drop into the 60s, which should feel less humid. For the rest of us, still expecting dew points to remain in the 70s and keep overnight lows muggy. A stray shower or storm is possible Wednesday, mainly closer to I-16 and I-95.
Scattered showers and storms are anticipated again Thursday as the stalled front nudges back north. Rain chances will likely start sooner in the day Thursday – around midday – which should help keep highs in the low 90s.
Seasonal July weather returns Friday with highs in the low to mid-90s and isolated afternoon showers and storms. Even hotter heading into the weekend with highs in the mid to upper 90s this weekend…
