3 out of 10 vehicle thefts in Central Valley occurred in Kern County 2023-2024: report

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Over 30% of all vehicle thefts that took place in the Central Valley from 2023 to 2024 happened in Kern County, according to the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom.

According to the report, the number of vehicle thefts declined across the state of California as well as throughout the Central Valley, with California seeing a 13.14% decrease overall.

The report said about 11.31% of all vehicle thefts in the state occurred in the Central Valley, with Kern County taking the largest pie of that percentage with 31.15%.
