A busy weekend for the ANNA Shelter turned into an emergency rescue effort after Pennsylvania State Police alerted the shelter to a dire situation involving dozens of neglected animals.
According to a Facebook post by the shelter, founder and director Ruth received a call from troopers about 40 animals being kept in a small, enclosed trailer without food, water, or proper ventilation. Within 30 minutes, the animals were transported to the ANNA Shelter’s triage barn, where staff member Stephanie began administering care.
The animals, including bunnies, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, goats, and geese, were previously part of what was described as a “petting zoo/rescue.” All have now been surrendered to the shelter and are being assessed by veterinary staff…
