Longtime prosecutor VerHey appointed as next U.S. Attorney for Western District of Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Longtime federal prosecutor Timothy VerHey has been appointed to serve as the next U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi appointed VerHey. He was formally sworn in Monday by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Hala Jarbou.

VerHey has served as a federal prosecutor in Grand Rapids since 1990, prosecuting cases ranging from capital murder and domestic terrorism to international fraud.

Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the University of Notre Dame Law School grad clerked for Judge Harry Wellford in the U.S. Court of Appeals and worked for two years as an attorney at Warner, Norcross & Judd, which is based in Grand Rapids…
