RRHA awarded grant to combat gun violence

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – “I think everybody’s pretty well aware of some of the violence that’s happened, not only in Roanoke, but throughout the country. I think really what we were looking at is preventive,” Director of Community Support Services, Greg Goodman, said.

From the Melrose Towers to the Lansdowne apartments, the city of Roanoke has seen its share of gun violence.

In the battle against violence, the City of Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority, in partnership with the Harvest Collective, was awarded a nearly $300,000 grant from the Department of Criminal Justice to initiate the “It takes a Village” program…
