After thousands of votes, you picked the winner of best sno-ball in the New Orleans metro

After four competitive rounds and thousands of votes, the people have spoken: Sal’s Sno-Ball Stand in Metairie has been crowned the winner of The Times-Picayune’s 2025 sno-ball bracket.

Sal’s got 62% of the fan vote in the final round of the bracket, which started with 24 stands in New Orleans, Jefferson Parish and the northshore. Costanza’s in Metairie and Hansen’s Sno-Bliz in New Orleans are the runners-up.

Sal Talluto opened his sno-ball stand in 1960, desiring a change of pace after he suffered a heart attack. Current owner Steven Bel explained that it started out of Talluto’s house and, eventually, the founder built the building where it stands now. The Talluto family sold the stand to Bel in 1992, who first began working at Sal’s in 1978…
