After four competitive rounds and thousands of votes, the people have spoken: Sal’s Sno-Ball Stand in Metairie has been crowned the winner of The Times-Picayune’s 2025 sno-ball bracket.
Sal’s got 62% of the fan vote in the final round of the bracket, which started with 24 stands in New Orleans, Jefferson Parish and the northshore. Costanza’s in Metairie and Hansen’s Sno-Bliz in New Orleans are the runners-up.
Sal Talluto opened his sno-ball stand in 1960, desiring a change of pace after he suffered a heart attack. Current owner Steven Bel explained that it started out of Talluto’s house and, eventually, the founder built the building where it stands now.
