Hernando County Fugitive Located In Louisiana After Year-Long Manhunt

Christian Fischer, who fled during his trial in Hernando County, was tracked across multiple states before his capture by U.S. Marshals.

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A man who eluded law enforcement for over a year after fleeing his trial in Hernando County, Florida, on charges of traveling to meet a minor and soliciting a child for sexual activity, has been apprehended in New Orleans, Louisiana. Christian Fischer, 43, was taken into custody without incident by the United States Marshals Service (USMS) on July 10, 2025, after an extensive multi-state pursuit.

Fischer’s arrest brings an end to a protracted manhunt that began on February 2, 2024, when he failed to appear for the second day of his trial in Hernando County. Despite his absence, Fischer was found guilty in absentia, with sentencing pending his capture.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Fischer was initially arrested in January 2022 on serious charges, including Traveling to Meet a Minor and Use of a Computer to Solicit a Child for Sexual Activity.
