Eugene police step up security at Lane County Fair in response to past incidents

EUGENE, Ore. – The Lane County Fair kicks off with an increased focus on safety, following prior incidents, including a shooting in 2022.

Organizers are implementing enhanced security measures this year to ensure a safe environment for families. The Eugene Police Department is leading public safety operations at the fair for the second year. A team of 12 officers will be on-site in overlapping shifts to prevent potential issues rather than just responding to them.
