JACKSONVILLE, FL — Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office VICE Unit made a life-saving stop last week while on their way to serve a warrant, after witnessing the immediate aftermath of a serious crash on Collins Road near Shindler Drive.
The incident occurred when an SUV flipped over during a two-vehicle collision. Detectives, prioritizing the emergency over their original mission, quickly stopped to assist. Two people were trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
Patrol Medic Brooke Mallory, assigned to the unit for officer safety during the warrant service, used her medical training to provide aid to the injured occupants, who suffered lacerations and other non-life-threatening injuries.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department personnel arrived shortly after to take over medical care and transport the victims. Once the scene was secured, the detectives proceeded and successfully served the original warrant…
