Despite neighbor opposition, the Lane County Commissioners unanimously agreed to allow the low-barrier Navigation Center on River Avenue to continue operating for another year.
Neighbors urged commissioners to not extend the contract at the July 22 meeting, arguing the shelter attracts drug use and property crime, and should be relocated away from homes and North Eugene High School. They were joined by leadership at Everyone Village, who argued they could run the center better than Equitable Social Solutions, the organization currently operating the shelter.
