Wellstar Vinings Health Park Employee Charged with Theft of Powerful Sedative Propofol

An employee at Wellstar Vinings Health Park is facing criminal charges after being accused of stealing Propofol, a powerful sedative used in medical settings. Ariana Nicole Lyons, an anesthesiologist assistant with the facility, was arrested on July 7 with 10 vials of Diprivan Propofol in her possession, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. The vials were valued at $100 each and were property of the Wellstar Health System.

The incident, which took place earlier this month, saw Lyons charged with misdemeanor theft and felony possession of a controlled substance. According to court documents, the medication taken by Lyons is restricted to the confines of the operating room – a detail cited by a doctor at the health park in a statement obtained by Channel 2 Action News.

Lyons was subsequently booked into the Cobb County Jail, and her bond was set at $2,000. Records from the Cobb County jail indicate she was released on bond on July 9, following the theft and drug possession charges. MAK Anesthesia, which contracts the services of Lyons to Wellstar, has been contacted by Channel 2 Action News for comment regarding the situation…
