Car believed to be involved in Oildale hit-and-run found ‘completely burnt,’ CHP seeks suspect

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in the investigation of a hit-and-run that killed a bicyclist in May.

On May 11, CHP Bakersfield Area officers responded to a report of a vehicle-versus-bicyclist crash at about 12:18 a.m. on North Chester Avenue at Circle Drive, according to officials.

The bicyclist, identified as John Edward Loveall IV of Bakersfield, suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital. He was later pronounced dead, CHP said.

According to investigators, Loveall was in the number two lane of northbound North Chester Avenue. The driver of a 2006 white Acura TL drove through that area at an unknown speed and struck Loveall in the northbound lane before fleeing…
