Charleston firefighters battle early-morning downtown residential fire

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Fire investigators are working to determine what sparked a fire early Wednesday morning at a downtown residential building.

The Charleston Fire Department responded shortly after 4 a.m. to a building on America Street, the agency said on its Facebook page.

They searched the building and were able to contain the fire to an attic space over a one-story portion of the building, the post states.
