Lexington County, the once-rural nextdoor neighbor of the state’s capital, has grown exponentially over the last few decades. Sit in on a county council meeting, peruse the comments of a Facebook group meant for locals or just take a drive down S.C. 6 during rush hour and that’s easy to see.
And if you ask anyone in or around the county about it, you’ll get a variety of responses. The conversation will likely steer toward the growth or the traffic, but it might also steer toward some of the area’s beloved parks or its small-town feel despite its rapid growth. Either way, people have lots of opinions about Lexington — as do most folks about where they live.
