Mobile, Ala. (WKRG) — A brand new $600,000 playground opened at Figures Park in the Toulminville community of Mobile on Wednesday morning.

However, this isn’t an ordinary playground. The designers were people who know playgrounds the best: children.
“What makes this playground special is that the kids actually designed this playground. We had a community meeting. We actually created a Toulminville community action plan, a 191-page document, and the community said they want a playground,” Mobile District 1 City Councilman Cory Penn said. “I think that’s special when they actually designed something, talked about something, and it happened in that same year. They know that government is working for them.”
Other city officials are hoping that this new play equipment will encourage local children to go outside and get active…
