Posing as a nurse, woman stole drugs from PA nursing homes, police charge

The Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is asking healthcare facilities across Pennsylvania to check their employment records, now that charges have been filed against a Pittsburgh woman for impersonating a nurse at various healthcare facilities in Pennsylvania.

According to online court records, the state police filed criminal charges on July 21 against Shannon Nicole Womack, 39, listing a total of 43 counts of felony and misdemeanor charges that include corrupt organizations, endangering the welfare of care, unlawful use of a computer, identity theft, forgery, theft, manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, procurement fraud and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Womack was arraigned before District Judge James Saieva of Canonsburg and sent to the Washington County Jail on a $250,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 12 before Saieva.

According to the state police criminal complaint, Womack worked at least one shift at nine healthcare and rehabilitation facilities across western Pennsylvania between Oct. 1, 2024, and April 2, 2025, allegedly using 10 different aliases and seven different Social Security numbers to gain employment as a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse and registered nurse supervisor…
