Roanoke officers recognized for teamwork leading to arrests of shooting, robbery suspects

ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) — The Roanoke Police Department is commending some of their own for quick thinking and strong teamwork that led to the arrests of a man allegedly involved in a shooting and a group reportedly responsible for a string of robberies.

Police say that thanks to Officers Poland, D’Arpa, Madera, Roggenbuch and Murphy, a suspect involved in a shooting was identified. They found that he also had three active warrants for burglary, property damage and brandishing.

Officers say they surrounded the suspect’s home and announced themselves, leading the suspect to try to run off. During the pursuit, the suspect dropped a firearm, and a second firearm was found upon arrest…
