Officers from the Vallejo Police Department responded to a call of a person brandishing a weapon near Sutter and Illinois Streets, said a social media post from the department. After securing the area and determining the presence of a possibly armed individual within a residence, the department’s Emergency Services Unit (ESU) was activated to handle the threat yesterday.
The tactical teams, which include the members from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Teams, Hostage Negotiation Team, Tactical Dispatch Team, Tactical Emergency Medical Services, and a Tech Team operating Unmanned Aerial Systems, collaborated with the Napa Police Department’s drone team in what turned out to be an empty search. The suspect had evaded the perimeter before officers could establish containment, according to the Vallejo Police Department Facebook page.
