Over 90 Airmen from Holloman, Fort Bliss aid after Ruidoso flooding

RUIDOSO, N.M. (KTSM) — Over 90 Airmen from Holloman Air Force Base and Fort Bliss were dispatched to assist people affected by the devastating flooding in the Village of Ruidoso and the Mescalero Apache Tribe.

According to the news release from Holloman AFB, the Airmen are from the 29th Attack Squadron and the 7th Air Support Operations Squadron, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Bliss.

“As soon as we heard they needed help, we assembled a small team and started gathering volunteers from the base,” U.S. Air Force Capt. Andrew Norton, 29th ATKS instructor pilot, said. “We also reached out to Fort Bliss, and any time you get that many volunteers coming together, it’s something special.”

The Airmen assisted in multiple recovery efforts, including sorting and transporting clothing, clearing flood debris and filling sandbags to help lessen damage, Holloman AFB said…
