The Baked Lab — a cake and sweet treat business that has operated out of a commercial space for the last five years — is opening a bakery/bar storefront this winter at 2044 Atwood Ave.
Owner and self-trained baker Shawn Bolduc, who started the business in 2020, will offer cake slices, cookies, bars, rotating desserts, espresso and wine at the new brick-and-mortar location. He’ll continue to take cake and dessert pre-orders, too.
“Bakery is always thought about in the morning, and we have an awesome array of bakeries in Madison that do it well,” Bolduc says. “I’m not interested in competing — I wanted to create a new vibe, a new spot for people to hang after work or somewhere to grab dessert after dinner.”
