LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lincoln Police Department said auto thefts and attempts in the city are down 36% compared to the same period in 2024. Attempted auto thefts have dropped 74% citywide.
From January 1 to July 14, 2025, LPD received 378 auto theft reports, including 51 attempts (13.5%). During that same time frame in 2024, there were 588 reports, with 197 (33.5%) classified as attempts.
“Keeping our city safe is a community effort,” said Police Chief Michon Morrow. “The Lincoln Police Department wants to commend residents for taking action to prevent their vehicle from being stolen and we encourage everyone to remain vigilant.”…
