WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas Corporation Commission, which regulates utility rates in the state, approved an agreement allowing Black Hills Energy to increase rates to recover costs incurred to provide natural gas service to customers.
The KCC approved a plan that allows the company to raise an additional $10.8 million in revenue. It is less than what the company originally requested — they had initially sought to raise $17.2 million when they applied back in February.
Customers voice concerns over proposed Black Hills Energy rate hike in Wichita
Under the terms of the settlement, most residential customers will see an increase of approximately $5.96 per month, or $71.52 per year. The new rates will take effect on August 1, 2025.
