ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A jury has failed to reach a verdict in a 2022 murder case that stemmed from a fight downtown. Isaac Martinez is accused of shooting and killing Jonathan Garza outside the Canvas Artistry near First St. and Central Ave.
Santa Fe man charged with murdering his brother
Prosecutors said Garza was trying to stop a fight involving his brother when he was shot, but the defense argued police mishandled the investigation. The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office told KRQE News 13 that the trial ended with a hung jury, with 10 jurors in favor of a conviction and two for acquittal. Prosecutors do intend to retry the case.
