‘Someone needs to be held accountable’: Family seeks answers after fatal Anchorage hit-and-run

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Frustrated by the little information available, Rachel Stauffer has decided to share her story publicly in hopes it will bring her family much needed answers in her son’s death from a hit-and-run crash on Sunday.

“Someone needs to be held accountable. It’s not fair. It’s not fair to my son who’s no longer here,” Rachel Stauffer said. “It’s not fair to me. It’s not fair to my mother. It’s not fair to his siblings, his father, anybody that knew him. I want to have justice for my son. I want this person to be found, and I want them to be held accountable to whatever charges are brought upon this person.”

According to Anchorage police, at 7:58 p.m. on Sunday, 31-year-old Christian “CJ” Islas-Stauffer was involved in a collision in the area of Arlington Drive and West Northern Lights Boulevard with a pick-up truck while driving his motorcycle.
