ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM) announced it has purchased the former Quality Inn hotel in east Asheville, with plans to transform its 134 units into permanent supportive housing for homeless veterans.
The North Carolina nonprofit said the project marks a major milestone in the area’s efforts to end veteran homelessness and will expand its year-round capacity to provide safe, stable, and supportive environments.
“Purchasing the Quality Inn is a historical accomplishment that furthers ABCCM’s commitment to ensure an affordable home for every Veteran and that no Veteran has to be on the streets,” ABCCM CEO Reverend Scott Rogers said in a written statement. “We will convert 134 units into permanent supportive housing, which is 100% affordable, to complement the outstanding work at the Veterans Restoration Quarters where about 450 Veterans annually are served with transitional housing.”…
