BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County is planning to reduce available public health services and conduct layoffs due to significant state and federal funding cuts and increased minimum wage for health care workers, according to the Kern County Board of Supervisors agenda.
The department is asking the board to approve the proposed reduction, which will go into effect Aug. 16.
According to the agenda, a public hearing is required whenever a county plans to close or significantly reduce healthcare services for the community.
