Consumers Energy faces $75K fine over air pollution violations at gas plant

VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI – Michigan’s second largest electric utility faces a state fine after environmental regulators say it failed to follow air quality rules at one of its major power plants.

Consumers Energy could be required to pay a $75,000 civil penalty as part of a proposed order negotiated with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, or EGLE, to resolve violations.
