Investigation leads to drug seizure at Reading residence

READING, Pa. – An investigation into a report of illegal drug sales at a Reading residence resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, cash and a loaded handgun, authorities say.

The Berks County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force says the investigation began in May in response to reports of illegal drug sales being conducted from a home in the 500 block of Mulberry Street in Reading.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and served is this morning, taking 30-year-old suspect Christian Vazquez-Perez into custody. The following items were seized from the home:

  • 220 packets of fentanyl
  • One fully loaded Palmetto State Armory 9mm semi-automatic pistol
  • Ohaus digital scale
  • Drug package materials
  • Small bag containing suspected cocaine
  • $334 in US currency believed to be the proceeds of sales
  • two cellular telephones
