LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was killed and a woman suffered serious injuries Thursday night when their sedan rear-ended a semi-truck on Florida’s Turnpike in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m., south of Hancock Road, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, a 2025 Hyundai Elantra with a 22-year-old man behind the wheel and a 23-year-old woman riding as a passenger — both from Mobile, Alabama — was traveling south on the Turnpike when the driver failed to slow down for a semitrailer that had slowed for traffic ahead.
