About 10,000 catfish, with the potential to be 70 pounds, released in Pittsburgh area

About 10,000 more blue catfish are now swimming in Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers area thanks to an ongoing restoration effort of this native species.

Blue catfish, which can grow to be more than 70 pounds, once thrived in the Ohio River Basin of Pittsburgh, but died out in the early 1900s from water pollution.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is now restoring these large game fish to the area…
