Massachusetts Cannabis Sales Surpass $8 Billion After Record-Breaking First Half of 2025

WORCESTER, Mass — The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission announced Wednesday that adult-use marijuana establishments have surpassed $8 billion in gross sales since the state’s recreational market launched in 2018, following a record-setting first half of 2025.

According to data published to the Commission’s Open Data platform, sales from Marijuana Retailers, Delivery Operators and Couriers, and Microbusinesses with Delivery Endorsements reached $8.033 billion as of July 11. The $8 billion milestone was officially crossed on June 28 — just 226 days after the state reached the $7 billion mark in November 2024, the second-fastest climb between $1 billion benchmarks in the market’s history.

The first half of 2025 was particularly strong, generating $806 million in gross sales between January and June. Monthly records were set in January ($133.2 million), April ($134.5 million), and May ($142.3 million), with May being the highest-grossing month of the year so far, averaging $4.57 million in daily sales…
