Cedar Rapids ethics board confirms conflict of interest with NewBo

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids City Council member was declared a conflict of interest with NewBo.

Cedar Rapids City Council member David Maier asked the board for an advisory opinion on if he’s allowed to vote on issues that impact the NewBo City Market, because his spouse works there.

According to the Cedar Rapids Board of Ethics, his spouse’s position is funded by an unrelated foundation but he’s eligible to participate in specific employee benefits offered to NewBo employees…
